Crack Willow - Salix fragilis

Picture

This fast growing tree can live up to 1000 years, though more typically lives to 200.

The Crack Willow has narrow, toothed leaves that are slightly shiny above and blue-green on the underside. The tree gets its name from the sharp 'crack' made by snapping its twigs.

A light wood, it was traditionally used to make small sailing boats.
