Sessile Oak - Quercus petraea

Picture

The Sessile Oak, also known as the Welsh Oak, is a slow growing, large deciduous tree that can live up to 1000 years.

It can be identified by its stalked leaves and stalkless (sessile) acorns. Its leaves are evenly lobed with 5 to 6 lobes on each side.

The wood is traditionally used in ship building and making wine barrels.
